Today we have a most excellent offering by a cat named Honey. Snacktime is almost over, but Honey has decided to make a stack out of the last of the treats. As you can see, she has done this with the verve of a first class catstackathelete. Her stillness is her poetry. Honey’s handler writes, “She only moved at all because of the cookie, she tried to eat it.” Thanks, guys!

Catstacked: Rocky

Whatstacked: South Park characters

Rocky has stacked four South Park characters neatly down his back in a line. He makes it looks easy. But you can tell from his expression that extreme skill and perseverance has been required to delivery this quality stack! Excellent job, Rocky and owner Paul!

Rocky is also our first cat ever to stack from the beautiful islands of Hawaii! And he looks exactly like Boomer. Maybe he is Boomer’s long lost brother. Can Boomer come and visit you, Rocky, like tomorrow?

Whatstacked: five Christmas cards, a stocking, ornament and the star off a Christmas tree

Catstackathelete Remy sent us this great Christmas stack just in time for the holidays! But, due to admin negligence, it is not making it’s appearance until now, after the New Year. Still, I think this stack is very appropriate as we return to work and remember all the fun we had. It’s time to disassemble the Christmas trees – maybe all those cats out there can help?

Owner Melissa adds that her last stacker cat, Lola, recently died and that Remy has stepped up the plate so that catstacking may continue to be a time-honored family tradition. Melissa “told him to take it easy on his first stack, but he insisted on adding more. Lola would be proud.” (Presumably this was said in kittyese.) Thanks Melissa and Remy! Happy New Years!

Although at first glance you may say to yourself, “That is not a happy cat.” we beseech you to look closer. What appears to be an unhappy scowl is actually an expression of extreme concentration. Kit-tan knows that moving even a millimeter will result in a failed stack, so he must stay very, very still. Excellent work, Kit-tan and owner Mary!

Ciara sent us several pictures of her cats and their amazing feats of catstackery that take place on a daily basis in her home. I know, right? Amazing! These cats, what will they think of next? In my favorite picture, Bubbles has balanced a small table and set of chairs on herself. “Next time I’ll set the table,” Ciara noted. But wait, there is more stackery afoot! Ciara also sent a picture of Bubbles enjoying a mini-stack in the bathtub (his expression assures us that this is merely a practice stack not meant to be seen by the public), and a picture of her other cat Tytan working up to a book backstack. Thanks, Ciara!

Here to wrap up the Thanksgiving weekend is Pumpkin! Pumpkin pauses briefly in thoughtful contemplation, effortlessly balancing a mixture of objects on his generous back. Though he may be carefully listening for the sound of chow time, Pumpkin is the master of his senses, letting nothing come between him and a great bit of catstackery. Pumpkin’s trainer Matthew has included a very nice description of Pumpkin: “When Pumpkin is not found destroying the couch with his habitual shedding-induced cat hair caked place mat creations, he can be found sleeping face down in the food bowl and pondering the philosophical nature of cognitive realism and seeking to establish new centrifugal sedimentation coefficients for prokaryotic ribosomal subunits.” Thanks Matthew and Pumpkin!

Brrrrr, it’s cold in here, there must be some Boomers in the atmosphere! Boomer has been awfully unhappy lately. When he goes outside it’s cold and snowy, and he just doesn’t think this can be right. Who’s playing a trick on him? When he’s not sitting in the kitchen angrily meowing at nothing in particular, he enjoys a cozy nap on the couch. As you can see, this stack did not interfere with that activity.

Today we have a leisurely stack from new catstackathelete Dusty. As you can see, he’s really having to balance those objects, using every fiber of his being to create the perfect catstack. Owner Rachel notes that “In spite of his morbidly obese stature, Dusty is quite limber and can catch his toy mice in his mouth and paws up to 4 feet in the air. All that activity really wears him down. Nothing can wake him.” Inside though, you know he is dancing through the puffy clouds of stacking nirvana! Thanks Dusty and Rachel!

Boomer isn’t ready for lift-off. He’s ready to lay sprawled on his back for the rest of the day. But at least he’s pulled off an uber-difficult tummy stack while he’s at it! I really wanted to throw more on him, but for some reason he feels like his privacy has been invaded when random objects start piling up on his stomach.

It looks like someone is being a bit of a hinderance, doesn’t it? But that’s just what you see on the surface. Underneath the veil of a lazy nap, Rocket perfects the art of catstackery using a very unusual medium: puzzle pieces! Owner Erik says that Rocket “is constantly doing the most random of things, and I was always confused as to why. But now the joke is on him, quite literally.” Thank you much, Erik and Rocket, and we hope you’re able to finish the puzzle some day!
